I've passed by this restaurant many times whenever I travel to VA. It never occurred to me to try it out until a lifelong local suggested that I try the place out. I live by the rule that if a local says to a place, you go there. So I did. I decided to try it for breakfast because I had grown tired of my hotel's questionable scrambled eggs and cold bacon. I sat at the counter and couldn't decide what to eat! I wanted everything. I decided on the crab cakes eggs benedict and avocado toast. OMG! I loved it! Everything is made to order and comes out nice and hot. The avocado toast came in this big multi grain toast with a more than generous topping of avocado. My favorite part of the visit was watching the kitchen staff cook. They worked fast and did their best to keep up with the never ending orders. Then this guy in a green shirt comes in to help the omelette station and got at least three or four burners going got the eggs out, tidied up the work area and walks away like some kind of cooking ninja. I am making it my foodie goal to try a different dish whenever I am in town.

Mediocre pace friendly local dinner! parking is limited for peak hours but Staples has a spacious lot for all. I had the chicken and waffles, grilled steak salad, and crab cake benny. highly recommend this for 3 people who have a small appetite haha . I had their French vanilla coffee but in all honesty I expected this to be served in milk etc lol like your vanilla latte. Overall I recommend this brunch spot!

Sunday brunch at Metro Diner. Walked in and was greeted right away. Advised of a 20-25 minute wait. Headed to the counter. Once seated at counter by the food warmer I knew I wouldn't be staying there long. Also the lady finalizing the orders was loud when calling out the orders and talking to the staff. Went to the from and ask for a table. Seated right away. The good cams out fast and hot. I'm vegetarian so I went with the staple items potatoes and vegetables. The squash and zucchini needed to be cooked a little longer. I told the waitress and she offered to bring me something else. I declined and it was taken off the check. Great time at brunch and enjoyed the food.

Spicy honey chicken biscuit ($4) rocks and the Belgium waffles are light and fluffy. Good food, quick and friendly service, and fair prices. This is a great breakfast choice. Expect a wait. We waited ~20 minutes on Sunday at 10:30am.

I suffer from insomnia. I have a job that sometimes bleeds into my personal life and doesn't let me turn my brain off. The night before we ventured to Metro Diner was one of those nights. Up at 1 am, did some work. Exhausted by 3-3:30 am. Nap, up at 5:45 to walk my dogs. I Need to feel human again so it's either a trip for coffee (Starbucks--I'm addicted) but we have a little extra time. Why not try Metro Diner? We were there about 5 minutes before they opened. Not a surprise since we'd been up since the crack of dawn. My friend Cami speaks highly of this place, so when we decided on breakfast, we picked Metro. We studied the menu while we waited. So many options! When we entered the restaurant. We were greeted by a friendly staff--they were pretty chipper for 7 a.m. We were told to pick a spot and land, so we selected a small booth. We were quickly greeted by our bright-eyed server (what's wrong with you people?!). Coffee and water ordered...yay! She came back a few minutes later and I was still going between the huevos rancheros or corned beef hash. I had an unhealthy childhood obsession with corned beef hash and the menu description of the dish made my mouth water. Nonetheless, when it came down to it, I ordered huevos rancheros, but negotiated a side of corned beef hash. Score! Hubby ordered the eggs Benedict with spinach and tomatoes. He really enjoyed it and polished the entire dish off. He loved the hash browns. Everything was tasty! Portions were crazy huge. The huevos rancheros was so big, I could only eat a quarter of the dish. I loved the fried jalapeños...nice touch. It was good...doesn't hold a candle to Tazza Kitchen, but it was good. The side of corned beef hash was good. I like a little maple syrup on mine, so that was missing, but a good dish overall. I'd order it again. Metro will be a weekday breakfast place but not worthy of the highly coveted brunch spot. Tazza is my Short Pump go-to location for weekend brunch...it's just better with more ambiance. Don't get me wrong, Metro is good...it's more like Silver Diner. Sometimes that's just what you want.
